ILAGAN CITY, Isabela, April 8 (PIA) – – President Benigno S. Aquino III has vowed to accomplish all lined up infrastructure and other human development projects in Cagayan Valley Region.
In his visit during the inauguration of the P772.9-million Lullutan Bridge here, the President said that aside from the constructed roads and bridges, the government has completed 161 irrigation projects in Isabela and is working to finish 32 more irrigation facilities that would water 146,625 hectares of farmlands and benefit 90,950 farmers.
“The additional irrigation canals will supply water to 146, 600 hectares of farmlands which are expected to increase rice production from 5,000 metric tons to 9,996 metric tons annually,” the President said.
He also mentioned that one of the major projects he wants to accomplish before his term ends is the construction of the ‘Dalton Pass’ alternate route in Nueva Vizcaya which has already 25.4 kilometers concrete network.
He said the alternate route will ensure safety of commuters and ease transport of goods and commodities.
The President also mentioned that Isabela province has exceeded the 44,000 household targets for the Pantawid Pamilya program as there were already 47,000 households benefitting from the program including the increasing beneficiaries of health care program.
For his part, Isabela governor Faustino ‘Bodjie’ Dy III expressed his gratitude to the President and to DPWH secretary Rogelio Singson for the infrastructure development programs in the province as well as in other parts of the region.
Dy said that the rehabilitation of the two other bridges, the Pigalo and Cabagan, in the northern part of Isabela will soon start.
The governor is hopeful that the said projects will be completed before President Aquino’s term ends. (ALM/OTB/PIA-2 Cagayan)
